I love using High Frequency in my treatments because it can offer great results. It works to stimulate circulation, bringing oxygen to the surface, which rejuvenates and leaves you with happy healthy skin. In this post I cover everything you need to know about High Frequency, from what to expect at your appointment to the benefits of the treatment.

What is High Frequency?

High Frequency is a non-invasive electrical device, that sends a current through an argon gas-filled glass electrode, stimulating micro-circulation in the skin. This in turn helps to draw oxygen to the surface for a brighter and more glowing complexion.

The Benefits of High Frequency

High Frequency can be hugely beneficial for those with oily prone skin to breakouts. The oxygenation has an anti-bacterial effect, limiting the formation of spots and helping to decongest the skin. It works to reduce excess sebum in pores, which makes pores appear smaller, therefore improving the overall tone and texture of the skin.

Drawing oxygen to the skin's surface also increases blood circulation, which encourages the production of collagen and helps to reduce fine lines. The skin will appear firmer and smoother in texture. It also helps to reduce dark circles and puffy eyes. The skin becomes energised giving an all round rejuvenated glow.

What to expect during the treatment

Any treatment where high frequency is included or added on will start with your skin being cleansed. All jewellery must be removed. I then apply an oxygenating cream, as well as a thin gauze over your face.

Once your skin is prepped, I move the device gently across your skin (which also aids lymphatic drainage). The High Frequency machine makes a buzzing noise and you will feel a slight tingle as I move the wand in little circular movements around your face (you may also smell a light scent of argon gas)! As a more targeted treatment you can 'zap' or 'spark' individual inflamed spots. This helps to reduce the inflammation and speed up the healing process.

The treatment lasts around 10minutes. I then clean the oxygenating cream from your face before proceeding with your bespoke facial.

You should be able to notice results after your first session, but like most treatments results are cumulative and you see optimal results from regular appointments.
